Our History

K-12 GERA, Inc. was born out of a shared vision: to unite educators and schools across the globe in the pursuit of high-quality, future-focused K–12 education.

The story began in October 2014 in Shijiazhuang, China, when 32 schools from 12 countries came together under the leadership of the Shijiazhuang Foreign Language Education Group (Shiwai Group). This pioneering effort launched a global network committed to collaboration, multilingual education, and student-centered innovation.

Recognizing the need to expand these efforts beyond Asia, the organization established its U.S. presence in Frederick, Maryland, where it was formally incorporated in April 2017 as a nonprofit. This move marked the beginning of K-12 GERA’s “international phase,” deepening partnerships between American schools and their global counterparts.

Since then, K-12 GERA has grown into a unique bridge between local communities and global best practices. It continues to facilitate research-based exchange, educator development, and multicultural learning environments—building upon Shiwai Group’s 15-year integrated education model and international legacy.
